Cy Prado

Cy Prado aka Cyril or Cyborg:I am truly blessed to have God put this ministry on my heart in 2003. I grew up in a home with no sense of religion or talk of it.

The gods worshiped in our home was Budweiser, Marlboro and NASCAR. Not to say that was a bad thing as my parents spent a lot of time taking me out to Indian Dunes, Mojave, Gorman, Glen Helen, Perris, DeAnza and many other places so I could ride. I had a girlfriend at 16 who told me about Jesus and I accepted Jesus and got baptized in 86 but like a plant without living water I quickly faded back into the world. I got heavily involved with drugs, alcohol, women and whatever any normal teenage boy would. I stopped riding and partied like it was 1999. After about 5 years of that I got back into riding thanks to a good buddy who let me make payments on a bike.

I basically switched my gods to a two wheeled god. Sure it was healthy for me but my world was consumed by it. All my money time and emotion was geared around when i could ride again. In that time I got married and my wife and I thought we should go to church and tried a bunch of them to find the one we liked. It wasn’t until we arrived at Cornerstone Simi Valley with Francis Chan did all the questions about God click. Our purpose is for HIM, God created each and every one of us to have a relationship with Him and used Jesus to bridge the gap or the hotline for communication. In 2002 I was involved in an intensive 9 month men’s discipleship program which utterly rocked my world view of God, and my greater purpose for serving Him. At the end of that 9 months I kept wondering how I could bring people to know Jesus Christ when a good friend of mine Jason Aeck from TREMX.COM said why don’t you put on rides for riders and bring the gospel to them. We started small and faithfully did a ride every month and had people coming out to share their testimony, like Phil Lawrence and Nathan Ramsey. Two very cool dudes who made some lasting impressions on what it meant to be a follower of Jesus Christ.

We did that for 3 years until my family felt called to be part of a Cornerstone church start-up in Dallas Texas. We saw God really close doors in California and answer big prayers in Texas for it to happen. Nothing is too big for God as Texas was about the last place in the world we ever thought we would live in. Fast forward 2009, I was sitting traffic listening to a DMXS podcast and it hit me like a ton of bricks, why don’t we do something like 3 dudes (2 Christians 1 not) and create a viral show around that interaction. Not too churchy and not too clean, so 58MXLive was born so to speak. Shand Garcia, Kevin Weable and Aaron Woodfield rocked the mic in a weekly show that had a huge amount of humor but every segment we shared a bible verse and what it meant to us or had a show guest talk about their favorite verse. Same year we put on a motocross camp which we were blessed to have Blake and Tyler Wharton, Gavin Gracyk and Phil Lawrence as our coaches and utterly rocked all of us. 5 kids accepted Jesus Christ and we had to scramble to get a horse trough to baptize them in. We broke some traditional thoughts in two ways. Some of the parents thought we had to do it in a church and it had to be done by a pastor. We showed them in the bible what God says and fortunately had a full time pastor there to ease their concerns. Fast forward to 2011, the core group has changed a bit but the heart is the same. We still have a few tricks or ideas up our sleeves to be a better presence in the motocross industry, and just waiting on God to answer some prayers in HIS time to make it happen. You can find me on Facebook on our ministry site or my own page. I would love to meet with you and help you in your journey to find true peace in your life through Jesus Christ.
